Here at H2R Selection we really care about our clients and candidates. We love to build a community of HR professionals and specialists by working with them as their business and ambitions grows. To demonstrate this we thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to introduce you to and revisit one of our candidates who is now 2 years into her role as HR Manager within Icon Films.

Back in the spring of 2019 we met Sophie who was about to embark on her next opportunity within an exciting, creative and vibrant organisation. She didn’t know exactly where at the time!

We had already built a fantastic relationship with Icon Films over the past few years and knew the existing HR Manager well. She was planning to retire and approached us to support her with her replacement. She knew we really understood what was required in the role and the organisational culture. We also knew that she would difficult to replace!

But as we said back then, Icon films meet Sophie – Sophie meet Icon Fims. The rest is history.

What does a typical day look like for you ?

  • Strategic planning of resources
  • Supporting CEO and Line Manager with staffing issues
  • Payroll administration
  • Budgeting
  • Covid-19 Precautionary administration
  • Contract and New Starter administration

How did you feel in your first 6 months?

A little overwhelmed as many areas to get my head round in a brand-new industry and forming relationships with the senior management team as well as the line managers and the employees.

How do you feel now – Your career highlights?

I feel I have made a big difference to the procedures which are now much more streamlined and have introduced systems which have aided the overall management control. I would say I have added significant value to the HR function in a demanding and challenging industry in these current times.

What would you like to achieve in your next 12 months?

As I am currently working from home which has been a challenge in itself, I am perfectly content to see the year through to the best of my ability and work towards the new normal.

How would you describe your journey / experience with H2R Selection?

H2R were very supportive throughout the interview process and I felt they had my best interests at heart. I am also appreciative that they keep in contact with me and that I am invited to the many functions and HR events that they hold which I have found very useful in the past.
